CO Horse Property
|
In the Wet Mountain Valley, a property referred to as a
Colorado ranch may be a farm. Farmers work the land, ranchers tend cattle and horses, alpaca and sheep, and naturalists seek to preserve the open spaces and rural heritage of the Valley.
Like many
Colorado mountain real estate communities, the Wet Mountain Valley has roots in mining. People who came to mine silver, copper, and gold left behind a rich tapestry of
Colorado ranches,
Colorado farms, and
Colorado mountain homes.

Colorado properties in the Wet Mountain Valley drape between the Wet Mountains and the jagged peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range in Custer County.
Flanked by national forests, the adjoining mountain communities of Silver Cliff and
Westcliffe real estate anchor the numerous pristine
Colorado mountain ranches in the valley.
Westcliffe Colorado Property

The historic towns of Silver Cliff and Westcliffe offer
Colorado ranch real estate with a location about an hour and a half southwest of Colorado Springs in Colorado's Custer County. Set at an elevation of 8,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains, the communities support an enduring tradition of Colorado ranches in the Wet Mountain Valley.
Homes in Westcliffe and Silver Cliff feature magnificent views of the cresting peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the west and the Wet Mountains to the east.

Custer County is located about an hour and a half southwest of Colorado Springs. It envelops the Wet Mountain Valley's
Colorado ranch land and her small mountain towns.
From about 6,000 feet elevation at the lowest point to 7,800 at Westcliffe real estate, to over 14,000 feet on top of Creston Peak, Custer County offers a variety of terrain including some of the most rugged all of south-central
Colorado real estate.
Royal Gorge Train
|
The Royal Gorge Canyon located in south-central Colorado has been the focal point of Fremont County Colorado history since prehistoric times. The Ute Indians knew its secrets as did late groups of Spanish Conquistadors. Lt. Zebuion Pike explored the canyon in the winter of 1806 by traveling up the frozen Arkansas River. The county is named for famed explorer, Captain John Fremont, who arrived in 1843. When Canon City was incorporated in 1872, it was already a bustling little town, even if it was only four blocks long.
